Don't just take her word for it!
Here's what others have to say about working with April.
Starting from Rock bottom"I started my journey with April Lund/Verge Fitness/Track Club on March 9th. I was broken inside and out, I felt like a failure as a mother, a failure as a wife, and a failure at life with just losing my job. It was my Rock Bottom. I started very unhealthy habits, smoking, drinking, eating junk, I had basically said 'This is it, I give up.' On the first day visiting with April about my wants, goals, needs, challenges and obstacles, I cried. It felt so good to know there was someone willing to put so much into helping me when all I had done was destroy myself from the inside out. All I thought was 'Who would WANT to help me when I can't even help myself.'

Today I am no longer intimidated to enter the gym, I have found my love for running again, and I have met THE BEST people out there. Tomorrow marks 7 weeks into my journey and I feel amazing. I feel healthy. I have stopped smoking and I'm working on my sobriety. I look forward to running and I look forward to putting healthy food into my body. I am thankful to be losing weight a healthy way since I had an issue with some unhealthy eating habits that left me very thin, and very unhealthy in the past. I have also registered for the Fargo Half Marathon and I could have never imagined I would be ready to run a half marathon. If you would have asked me the beginning of the year I would have laughed in your face. I will post the most recent before after photo I have taken less than 4 weeks apart. I cannot be more thankful or happy with the results this far, let alone how I feel. I am a happier person, I love the new me. So thank you April Lund, Aaron, and everyone in Track Club that motivates me to be there for speed work at 5am on Saturday mornings! LOVE YOU ALL!!!! *GROUP HUG*"

love my trainer"Where do I begin?!? I began training with April in the spring of 2016 and she somehow got me to start running right away. I resisted of course, but slowly I started to get up to 1 mile and then the Track Club was created that summer. It was a blast! I couldn’t believe I was running and enjoying it - plus I was meeting such wonderful people and they were so supportive! Then came the fall and I stopped dead in my tracks. No excuses, I just stopped. Thankfully April continued to keep in touch and in the fall of 2017 I reached out to her again.

Fast forward to today, and I have ran the farthest I ever have (9 miles baby!!), getting up at 4:30 am 5 days a week (including Saturdays) and I am running my first half marathon in May! I 110% attribute this to April and the GYS Track Club. This group of people have inspired and encouraged me beyond anything I could have imagined. The fact I get up at 4:30 am on a SATURDAY morning to run with this awesome group of people is confirmation of the above. Love this group, love my trainer April and I continue to be thankful I am on this journey with everyone by my side!"

the encouragement was contagious"I hadn't run in years, nearly a decade, to be honest. Then cancer hit. To alleviate the pain from the chemo drugs, I began walking regularly. When my son's football season started, i walked laps around his school during practice nights. As summer turned to fall and GYS started to establish its roots, I was inspired by the variety of people and body shapes engaging in the club. I secretly began jogging the back block along my son's school where few would see me lumbering along. But I ditched my wig about this time and began my ascent into owning the survivorship that I would come to live.

After football season ended, my son and I began coming to GYS together. I wanted to find an activity my son and I could do together, and running was it. It didn't matter that I was lumpy, frumpy, and bald. We weren't excluded because of my son's age. We were wholly embraced into the group, and the encouragement was contagious. April is that leader that you want to do better for, that you want to he proud of you, and that embeds deep into your personal accountability and desire to improve. It has been most encouraging to see so many more people of varying physical abilities welcomed into the club with equal attention and enthusiasm. It has been exciting to see my personal improvements and to discover what I am capable of achieving. I know that my goals have just begun, and I know that GYS has been instrumental in defining those goals. From someone who had never run off a treadmill, to completing multiple 5Ks, to training for a half marathon, the members of GYS have become family and continue to encourage and inspire me to find the best 'me' that I can achieve, and to truly believe there are no limits to what I can accomplish."

I kicked depression's ass"I joined Track Club last year as a means of keeping myself accountable on my new fitness lifestyle. I made it a goal to run an entire race without stopping and I accomplished that in Fargo last year. I not only gained an accountability but countless friends along the way. It helped get me outside my own personal bubble and showed me that I too can do great things if I put my mind to it. Between Track Club and my Krav classes I have so much to be thankful for. I finally stayed committed to my health for that I am forever grateful!
This body would not be the current size it is now had it not been for this great organization! One last but probably most important thing. I kicked depression's ass and no longer have that issue!" – Melissa Marie B. |
something I had never done"I started running in March 2017 something I had never done. A few weeks after starting I saw my friends Pat and Sandy had just ran in The Race To Zero. There was mention of the GYS Track club and new members were encouraged to join. I thought maybe I could learn a few things. What I found was everyone was willing to help, I asked all kinds of questions. How to breathe properly, what type of running shoes. Everyone’s encouragement while there, I would come home after Track Club all pumped up for my next week of running.

The thing I never expected was the new friendships that I would make. I look forward each week to seeing those familiar faces with there big smiles. That was the biggest thing about GYS everyone belongs. I achieved and surpassed my running goals, lost 30 pounds and am in better shape than I have been in years. I had a medical issue that I believe without Track Club keeping my running focused would have turned out a lot worse. I am looking forward to running many more miles with my new friends."

April has been the best thing that has ever happened mentally and physically
"I recently joined the track club and although I can’t quite run yet (because of a foot surgery) April has been the best thing that has ever happened mentally and physically. I been “trying” to workout for about a year now and wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. Turns out I was using my body completely wrong. I’m learning as we go and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together! I’m so glad I jumped on the wagon. Everything happens for a reason! Thanks for my weekly motivation and positivity!"

no one is left behind or forgotten"I joined GYS Track Club last year after seeing members at various local races the year before. When I heard about the improvements being made by members and about the access to tracks and regular speed workouts I thought why not. I was tired of completing half marathons in 3 hours or more, so take advantage of the group. What I found is an inclusive community of athletes from all walks of life that I could have never found on my own. GYS is supportive of goals no matter how small they may seem to you and in the immortal words of Lilo & Stitch - GYS has become O'Hana which means family and family means no one is left behind or forgotten. Which is important support when you are facing the longest distance you have ever run. I also completed a half marathon in January with my younger sister which I would have never been able to do without the support of April and GYS. Thanks to everyone who belongs to GYS I have become more social and outgoing also. Here is to a great 2018 Racing Season!"

I had no idea I would be getting so much more
" I joined GYS in January with the goal of running a 5k. I had no idea I would be getting so much more than the guidance I needed for running. I have met great people that have been supportive of me all the way. And I have gained confidence in other areas of my life. I am doing things now that I would have never considered saying yes to previously. I know now that I am capable of a lot more than I have ever given myself credit for, in my wellness journey and in all aspects of my life. Thank you GYS and April Lund for all that you have done in a few short months!"

The encouragement, support and motivation has changed my life!"I joined track club last year... Not because I was interested in running. I have never in my life been a runner...but I joined because of the push of April! I had started working her at the gym and figured this could help me on my journey. What a change it has made! I did my first 5k which is the picture on the left and I am pretty sure I walked the entire thing to accomplishing 9 miles!! And more importantly training for a half marathon. Even though I have found running in my life I have found and gained so much more! The people are AMAZING!! I have made friends that I will have the rest of my life. The encouragement, support and motivation has changed my life!"
